Automating ICT and Flashing Operations with a Collaborative Robot

An integrated cobot solution for repetitive part handling in automotive electronics manufacturing

PROJECT OVERVIEW


Dasnet Group developed an integrated collaborative robot solution for an automotive electronics manufacturing process.


The system coordinates part handling from the production line through ICT testing and flashing, then transfers each completed part to the next production stage or magazine.

THE CHALLENGE


The process required parts to move through several consecutive stations. An operator manually transferred every part from the production line to ICT, from ICT to flashing, and finally to the downstream line or magazine.


Because the same handling sequence was repeated throughout production, the operation was a strong candidate for collaborative automation.

THE SOLUTION


Dasnet Group integrated a collaborative robot capable of coordinating the complete transfer sequence between the existing production equipment.


The solution was designed around the real process, available floor space and interaction with each station. This allowed the repetitive handling task to be automated while maintaining the flexibility required in an automotive electronics manufacturing environment.


AUTOMATED PROCESS SEQUENCE


1. The cobot receives or picks the part at the production line output.


2. It loads the part into the ICT station and waits for the test cycle to finish.


3. After ICT, the cobot transfers the part to the flashing station.


4. Once flashing is complete, the cobot places the part into the next production line or magazine.
